What is the Meadow Renovation Project?

We are embarking on a new project to create a gathering space that can be enjoyed for years to come.

HVCA has received a lot of positive feedback about the renovation work done to the gardens between Montford and the meadow to increase awareness of what we can do in our own gardens using native plants to help mitigate the impacts associated with climate change—drought, fire, stress on plants and wildlife. This new project will expand on the principles of this effort to the meadow, and to address opportunities to create an even better gathering space for the community to enjoy. Make a gift.

What a donation can do

  • Improve drainage and irrigation—the meadow is muddy in the winter and dry in the summer

  • Explore drought appropriate turf and irrigation options

  • Reinstate screening of Marin Horizon School and the properties on Evergreen Lane

  • Add trees to provide shade during the long summer days

  • Replace the bridge and provide better access to and from the Community Center by allowing storm water to pass freely beneath

  • Find solutions to address the silt build up and deteriorating infrastructure along the seasonal drainage that stretches from Montford to the meadow and under the bridge into Reed Creek

  • Expand the educational opportunities around plant choice/climate change and complement them with online content
